As a child, I was always creating things or doing crafts. My father worked in the textile industry and I often went with him to work. It was there that I came into contact with beautiful fabrics and spent hours going through the French Vogue. Needless to say, the seed was planted at a very young age. As a teenager, I worked with my father in the factory during my vacations. I measured material, counted fabric bolts and helped loading and unloading trucks. I couldn’t have imagined a better job for myself!
After studying fashion at De Schans in Amsterdam, through a summer work placement, I was offered a job with a large importer in their styling department. This was the start of my career working for various fashion companies, of which the last 15 years as freelancer. From making projections, determining colours, creating new prints and turning graphic work and technical drawings into complete collections. During this time, I never stopped developing myself as all-around stylist or looking for new challenges.
For a company that specialises in linen and linen blends, I was given the chance to work on a unique fabric collection. That was the beginning of my love for linen. A material with character, while being 100% sustainable. For years I had dreamt about my own brand, and I knew exactly what it was going to be: beautiful, timeless linen men’s shirts. Sustainable, stylish and versatile. Not a disposable product, but slow fashion. A shirt that can be worn both casually and chic. It all came together in my brand Wolff & Haslinghuis. I hope you experience just as much joy from my shirts as I do.
